Chef Corinne Buell

Corinne believes the best flavors come from the freshest, in-season ingredients which are used to create dishes that transport you to another place and time with a culinary and cultural experience unlike any other.

She draws inspiration from her time living and traveling in Japan, Spain, Türkiye, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe.

When I was planning a surprise anniversary dinner for my wife, I first thought of a quiet dinner for two at home. Then while brainstorming with Chef Corinne, we started talking about my wife’s favorite desserts and other reminiscences. I said, “How about a dinner al fresco at the spot where we were married. Could you do that?” Well, it was spectacular! We were married at a scenic outdoor setting and Chef Corinne set up kitchen in the ‘middle of nowhere’ so to speak and the courses were delivered as if from a professional kitchen, seamlessly and delicious, quite an accomplishment, and homemade cannolli better than any we have tasted in the DC area.

Several years ago, I had a heart attack. While recovering in hospital, my daughter told me, “Dad, you don’t eat right! I’m going to find someone to cook for you.” The next day she informed me that she had found Corinne, the chef for “As You Like It.” I told her my dietary constraints no salt (obviously), no sugar (being diabetic), and no more than 2300 calories a day. Corinne said, “No problem!” and the next week she began cooking a week’s worth of lunches and dinners in my kitchen. Needless to say, it is now more than 6 years later and she is still making a fabulous array of savory dishes, including Moroccan, Turkish, Indian, Greek, Latin, as well as good old American standards.
